What's on your horizon?
Leveraging my 20+ years as a C-level leader in the professional services and manufacturing industries, I help others realize new levels of prosperity. My experience includes working with small- to medium-sized closely held businesses, including start-ups and other rapid growth environments.
Having a strategic plan is essential. A strategic plan keeps you on course, provides a foundation for measuring success, and grounds your organization in common values, culture and specific goals. And it doesn’t have to be an excruciating experience! I believe in tailored, effective and adaptable plans that become part of the shared language of the business…not the kind that sit on shelves. Is it time to revisit your strategy?
Smooth transitions of leadership do not just happen on their own. Careful planning – well in advance – can make all the difference. Changes in leadership can create opportunities to protect cherished values, while setting a new course and generating energy around the future. Whether this need is a year away, two years away or already in process, I can help.
Being “in charge” can be a lonely experience. The pressures of the day-to-day can take precedence, leaving little time to reflect, cultivate new ideas and grow as an individual. I help the drivers, doers and thinkers who want to optimize their performance in all aspects of their life with setting and achieving specific goals tailored to the desires that are most important to them and the organizations they serve. Do you know anyone like that?
In professional service environments, you need someone with a deep understanding of what makes these firms unique. I have worked with small firms that are content to stay small but want to improve cash flow, build profitability or expand modestly. I have worked with firms that were on a mission to grow rapidly, managing all the accompanying operational detail, while building a shared culture. Whether its time to overhaul your go-to-market strategy, change up the governance structure or ensure that compensation structures and performance standards are aligned with the firm’s goals, I believe in building on strengths.
Are leaders born…or made? In my experience, the answer is both. Intentionally cultivating new leaders requires commitment and focus. It is an effort that bears fruit vertically and horizontally, creating better business outcomes, improved engagement and retention, and enhanced transition experiences. I have helped firms implement and enhance their leadership development programs – many of which have senior leaders with a robust pipeline in place to replace themselves over time. Is this something that keeps you up at night?
Times change. People change. Governance is often a “set it and forget” it exercise put in place years, and sometimes decades, ago when things were, well, different. How does your business currently make its most important strategic business decisions? How are leaders selected? How is authority conferred? When was the last time you looked at how your business is organized from a strategic perspective? Perhaps it’s time for review.
"Kit understands the challenges of leadership at every phase, whether at the beginning when a person is first placed in a new role; along the journey when many issues require coaching and advice; and at the end, when it is time for the leader to participate in succession planning conversations. Her personal and professional experiences made me feel like she genuinely understood what I faced as a leader and helped me develop a plan that focused on my strengths and improved my weaknesses. Her understanding of the law firm and its management was invaluable for how to approach growth strategically."
